I guess it is just a sign of how fast things move in today’s wired world, or maybe it is just a reflection of how low online t-shirt entrepreneurs will go to make a buck or two! Perhaps media is to blame because they have already made a complete ordeal out of the Swine Flu so far! Does bird flu or SARS ring a bell?

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if any of the major online t-shirt companies create or release a Swine Flu t-shirt. I guess we will know soon enough, and of course we will feature the t-shirt here!

This t-shirt definitely requires a second look. At first sight you think the t-shirt is just another classic rock Jimi Hendrix t-shirt. However, after a closer examination you discover the guitar is actually a Guitar Hero controller!

In some ways this t-shirt covers two very distinct and seperate age groups or market segments! Jimi Hendrix is obviously popular with Baby Boomers and Gen Xer’s, but of course many Gen Y or millenials love Guitar Hero. Overall, it makes for a pretty witty design and fun t-shirt!

We salute one of the greatest guitar players to ever live!

Unless you have literally been living under a rock the last two weeks you have surely heard that Michael Jackson has died. It has been a tragedy for many of his fans. Personally, I didn’t care for his extracurricular activities, but I have to admit he was a great entertainer!

To celebrate the career of the King of Pop, Deez Teez has printed up t-shirts to pay tribute to Michael Jackson. Ok, perhaps the t-shirt doesn’t really honor Michael Jackson, but at least Deez Teez took the time to design something to commemorate his death!

Regardless of people’s opinion about MJ, I think most would agree, it would’ve been interesting to see his comeback tour and performances.

Remember when Burger King offered video game aficionados their own Xbox 360 games, or when they created the whopper scented cologne, Flame? Well T-shirt lovers can now get their fix as well! Burger King is selling T-shirts through Burger King Studio, in a collaboration with new creative contemporary artists. Oddly enough, I must say the T-shirts aren’t bad at all. I like a couple of them and if you can’t find something you like, you can design your own shirt.

You don’t have to worry about looking like a walking advertisement for BK, since the T’s don’t have any huge Burger King logos or anything of that nature. The shirts represent today’s creative fashion and have a lot to offer. Kudos to the marketing minds at Burger King, they are constantly finding new ways of uniquely marketing their brand.

Torso Pants, the sister site of T-Shirt Hell, has announced that it will close shop on December 23rd. This comes as a bit of a surprise, but there must be a good reason for them shutting down. The designs featured on the site are a bit quirky and different (see below). The website itself is pretty awesome. For function and design it’s on of the funniest and coolest t-shirt websites around. Too bad they are closing down.

When I first saw this t-shirt, I was like “sweet” it’s a Ghost Riding t-shirt! However, after further inspection I discovered it was a parody t-shirt about the Game of Life and gay marriage. It’s a pretty original and funny t-shirt, but I personally liked it better when I thought it was about Ghost Riding!

Ghost Riding, for those that don’t know already, is basically when you put your car in neutral and get out and bust some dance moves around the car, on the roof or hood. For those that want to know more you should read this article or check out the video below (skip to 0:45 because the first part is bit of nonsense).

Be sure to read the follow-up story as it has a personal twist!

Ok, now for the personal twist! I was in Hanoi awhile back and I randomly met a guy that knew the creators of  the “Ghostride The Volvo” video featured above. Apparently these guys traveled to Asia and filmed more videos and created a vlog about their adventures in Asia. From what I understand it was their attempt to become celebrities or famous. Read this article from the San Francisco Chronicle for more details. You can also check out their website and videos at the Huge in Asia website. The website features some pretty good footage from Hanoi. Unfortantely, it appears the website hasn’t been updated for awhile, I guess the guys got bored and moved on to another project!

This is the Asian Rounder and this is my first post. I’m starting a new thread called T-shirtspotting that will feature random t- shirts I’ve seen or bought around the world.

The above t-shirt was purchased in Bangkok, Thailand at the Monkey See shop which is located at Central World. I’ve done some searches online in both Thai and English however I have not been able to locate a website.

It’s unfortunate the don’t have an online presence because they offer up some pretty cool designs. I asked the clerk at the store, and they are a Thai owned t-shirt company that supposedly has around 5 stores in Thailand.

The featured shirt was one of many t-shirts I purchased. I loved the combination of Jesus, Elvis with a playing card. The splash paint in white was  printed with a special raised fuzzy ink. Overall pretty cool t-shirt! Plus, I think I only paid about 500 baht or around $14 US dollars.

If you are ever in Bangkok, be sure to stop by a Monkey See shop and check out their cool designs!

It may seem inappropriate to poke fun at such a serious topic, but what better way to lighten the stress-filled news days than through a little humor.
